"The more I travel around the country the more I realise that one of the best places to fish is right here in Eurobodalla and it's getting better every year." Rob Paxevanos. Fishing journalist and television host.
Eurobodalla Coast is famous for providing anglers with some of the most varied and abundant fishing in the country. There are endless fishing options and locations, here are some of the best fishing spots on the South Coast to help you plan your next trip.
Our jetties are perfect for learning to fish and for fun times with the kids, or for a bit more action on foot, pick a beach and take your surf rod down. Just off the beaches there are easy catches to be had drifting along sandy or gravely areas in your tinnie, while further out the Continental Shelf you’ll find the big game fish. Take your larger boat or join a charter tour to these waters where it’s very common to catch fish well in excess of 50 kilos.
In the estuaries you can fish for black bream, whiting, mulloway and big dusky flathead. Off the beaches there are plenty of good sized tailor, salmon, and gummy sharks. In shore, many reefs are host to a smorgasbord of edible species such as kingfish, snapper and the prized Tassie Trumpeter. Out further, on the Continental Shelf, are the big game species such as blue, black and striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, albacore and a variety of shark species. Wherever you choose to wet a line around here you’ll catch some decent fish.
Whether you’re after some serious big game or just a bucketful for the BBQ, Eurobodalla Tourism can help you with advice, or booking a fishing experience with one of our professional fishing charters and guides.
