Three rising stars from Opera Gala will be welcomed by the South Coast Music Society for its final 2017 concert.

Michael Butchard, Karuna Kourkova and Kaine Hayward accompanied by Claire Trevalyan will present arias and ensembles from well-known operas.  The three artists are graduates from Pacific Opera, the Young Artists’ opera company based in Sydney.

Australian tenor Michael Butchard has sung with companies across the United Kingdom, including the English Touring Opera, London Voices, the Philharmonic Chorus and Garsington Opera.   Russian-born mezzo-soprano Karuna Kourkova has undertaken several international tours including the world music group MOJ, performing extensively throughout Asia to critical and public acclaim.  Kaine Hayward is a young Australian lirico-spinto tenor with a warmly baritonal Italianate voice.  His roles have included Rodolfo in La Boheme, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Don Jose in Carmen.  Kaine is a seasoned concert and recital artist.

Claire Trevalyan will accompany the trio.  She has recently made her Sydney debut as a concerto soloist with the Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra.

The concert runs for approximately 2 hours with question time with the artists at the conclusion.
